The Italian Perspective in Fighting against Mafias:
the Legacy of Falcone & Borsellino
Strategies and Techniques for Countering Organized Transnational Crime
Falcone-Borsellino Program is the most advanced point of Italian legal diplomacy in its component of International technical assistance.
Italian action in fighting against organized transnational crime, corruption and money laundering is a strategic asset for strengthening the Rule of Law, at an international and multilateral level, today universally recognized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation plays the role of leader of the Italian institutions in the area of justice and security, committed in providing overseas the best expertise for professional training, institutional and regulatory support initiatives, as well as the dissemination of values.
Italy, through the Italian-Latin American International Organization (IILA) has made and intends to consolidate, in this crucial sector for sustainable development, a political and technical effort in exchanging experience with Latin American and Caribbean countries, in accordance with the UN 2030 SDGs Agenda.
The cultural affinities and similar interests in-between Italy and Latin America and Caribbean Region implement the basis for the development of increasingly fruitful cooperation profiles in this area.
As Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino guess forty years ago, heroes whose merits are today globally recognized and to whom the Capacity Building Program is devoted, prevent and fight all forms of transnational crime is still a global priority for policies, strategies and technical and diplomatic actions.
The event is conceived as a multi-level and multi-stakeholder dialogue, divided into three sessions.
